Hi, everyone! I’m thrilled to be featured on Fry Sauce and Grits today. A little about me – I love finding deals and kind of think it’s like a treasure hunt. I find the best deals on clothes, furniture…you name it! One of my favorite finds were these pink chairs at $100 off. I will also post the occasional recipe as well, like these Almond Coconut KIND copycat bars.
I thought I would share a little segment I did on the Good Things Utah Blogger Week. I talked about some of my deal finding tips and how to save money. They aren’t hard and anyone can do it! You can see the full segment here, and below you’ll find a summary of some of my top deal tips.
– Gift closet – when I see something I love that would be a perfect gift for someone’s birthday and it’s on sale, I get it even if their birthday is 6 months out. I do this for all gifts; baby shower, bridal shower, etc. Make sure it’s not too trendy though. One time I bought some necklaces that were cute at the time and on a killer deal. I put them in my gift closet and stashed them away only to find them later when I was looking for a gift and realized they were totally out of style and I would not be caught dead giving them to someone! I wasted money on those. Make sure things you stock up on are classic.
– Avoid buying things just because they are on sale. Always ask yourself, “if this weren’t on sale, would I still love it?” If the the answer is yes, buy away! If not, step away.
– Buy things out of season. Last year I purchased a beautiful flocked Christmas tree for 50% off the week after Christmas, and a nice black down coat for…$25! Always purchase out of season for the next season because stores are trying to clear out their inventory.
