I’m really excited about today’s post. Sun Basket reached out to me and asked if I would do a review of their meal services and host a giveaway for our readers! Hooray, we love giveaways! Let me tell you a little about Sun Basket, and my experience with their delicious and healthy meals.
Sun Basket is an environmentally conscious company based in San Francisco that sources organic ingredients from local farms, develops healthy recipes, and delivers them right to your door! All you have to do is select your three meals from their weekly menu, and prepare them using the pre-measured ingredients and step-by-step instructions.
Cute packaging, right? I’m a sucker for well designed packaging. The moment I set my eyes on this box, I knew it was going to be good!
For my three meals I ordered spinach and white bean quesadilla with basil yogurt, steak fajitas with charred peppers and a radish cucumber salsa, and last but not least, sweet italian sausage with kale and radicchio.
One thing I really enjoyed about my Sun Basket, was the fact that I got to try vegetables that I had never tried before (i.e. fennel and radicchio). My husband can be a very picky eater, so I appreciated the fact that all of the meals were jam-packed with vegetables. Also, they focus on having paleo-friendly, vegetarian, and gluten free recipes to fit your lifestyle.
The recipes and instructions were easy to follow. Even if you have no experience cooking, the layout of the instructions are foolproof. Here is a picture of the spinach and white bean quesadillas. The lemon and basil greek yogurt was perfect for dipping and really added some fresh flavor.
For some families Sun Basket might not be an every week purchase, but every once in a while it can add some variety into the weekly meal schedule. It might be a perfect gift for a new mom or someone who is moving into a new house who doesn’t have much time to go grocery shopping. I know that I sure appreciated having three meals delivered to my door during a busy work week!
I really couldn’t believe how fresh the ingredients were! I even received a picture of the farm where the italian sausage came from. I really love how Sun Basket is so transparent about where their produce and meat is coming from. They even go so far as to provide you with a free shipping label for you to ship the box and packaging back to them to be recycled. To ensure quality of the produce and ingredients, Sun Basket is currently only delivering to California, Arizona, Oregon, Washington, Colorado, Utah, Idaho, and Nevada.
